Ulster v Munster – Anthony Foley Tributes

Ulster Rugby has been in touch with URSC to pass on a message on behalf of  all those at Munster Rugby.

Munster Rugby would like to thank the Ulster Supporters for their show of support over these last weeks and particularly last Saturday night. The wearing of Munster Rugby tops, holding aloft of Munster flags and banners in support of their province and Anthony Foley’s family, along with a quite extraordinary rendition of “Fields of Athenry” was something they found truly amazing and for which they are extremely grateful.

Due to the incredible level of support shown to Munster and the Foley family across Europe these past weeks, Munster would now like to draw a line under this sad event. Accordingly, Munster Rugby have requested that there will not be a minute’s silence at Kingspan prior to the interprovincial on Friday night. URSC understands that Ulster Rugby have agreed to honour that request and fully supports the decision.

We do know, however that all Ulster fans will welcome Munster fans to Kingspan with our usual respect and camaraderie, and that individual marks of respect for Axel and Munster supporters will not only continue to be shown, but are encouraged.
