URSC Player of the Season

Paddy received his trophy from last season’s winner, Darren Cave

At the Ulster Rugby Awards Dinner last night (at the Culloden Hotel), PADDY JACKSON was named as the Outstanding Player of the Season as voted for by URSC members. In a high poll with a close result, Paddy pushed Stuart McCloskey and Nick Williams into 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

This award has been generously sponsored by McNeillys Jewellers of Lombard Street in Belfast from its inception, and once again our winner received an exquisite watch to go with the Bob Sloane sculpted bronze trophy.

For the third year running, the winner also received an original artwork from the now (in)famous Ulster cartoonist Stan D’Upp, following in the footsteps of Darren Cave last year and Andrew Trimble in 2014.

URSC would like to express its appreciation to Alan Ferris of McNeillys Jewellers, and to Stan for their continued support of this prestigious award.

Detail of the Framed Stan D'Upp cartoon - any similarities to other rugby players are entirely circumstantial ..... Aye, right!

We couldn’t let iHump slip quietly out the back door into retirement without saying “thank-you” for some super memories over a number of years; and some of our members thought encouragement was very much in order for Two-Metre-Peter, for his outstanding improvement in recent weeks, something he himself puts down to getting game time and building in confidence.

Both players were extremely pleased to receive this recognition when presented with their pictures by URSC Chairman Jonathan Bill.
