Nick Williams has played his last game for Ulster due to injury

Ulster have today confirmed that Kiwi number eight Nick Williams has played his final game for the province as he requires surgery on a labral tear in his shoulder.

Williams was unsuccessful in his attempt to rehabilitate the shoulder injury picked up against Glasgow a few weeks ago meaning he will play no further part this season before departing for the Cardiff Blues in the summer.

There was also bad news for lock Alan O’Connor who underwent surgery for a dislocated shoulder ten days ago and will be out for the remainder of the season, however he will be ready for the start of next season.

The medical staff provided some good news though with prop Wiehahn Herbst only a couple of weeks away from a return to action following his reintegration into team training sessions.

Ahead of the game against Leinster this weekend there has been some further bad news for Les Kiss to deal with.

Only two weeks after returning from a long-term injury Tommy Bowe will sit Saturday’s game out after experiencing a mild knee reaction after the Zebre game.

Louis Ludik (groin) and Paul Rowley (knee) are also unavailable for the game as they continue to rehab their respective injuries.

Prop Ruaridhi Murphy has had surgery on a finger injury and won’t play again this season while Sammy Arnold has also played his last game for the province after he was ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

There was also confirmation that Dan Tuohy (ankle), Peter Nelson and Willie Faloon (both midfoot) are out for the rest of the season with their respective injuries.
