World Record Attempt

On 9th and 10th June 2012 The Mighty Tropics, are taking on All Ireland runners-up The Mengal Taggers in a massive tag rugby event to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research.

They are attempting to break the world record for the longest non stop tag/touch rugby match which currently stands at 30 hours.

The event has been organised by two brothers who recently lost their father to cancer and it will start at 8 am at Banbridge Rugby Club and, if they are to achieve the world record, will finish at 3pm the following day.

The rules are that squads must consist of no more than 15 players, with seven players on the pitch at one time to create the standard mixed tag team of 4 males and 3 girls. The match must be ‘competitive’, scores will be kept and official referees will be used and a video will be taken to send of to the Guinness Book of Records.

As you will appreciate this is a huge undertaking, especially for the 30 players involved which is way they would really appreciate your support.

This is huge undertaking in support of a super charity which is supporting people with a condition that very few of us have not come into contact with in some form of guise through our friends and family.  The organisers have also said that if you are in the Banbridge area please feel free to call in and support the teams.
