One of the major factors behind Ulster’s most successful season in years, Johann Muller spoke to Stand Up and gave an insight into his new life in Ulster and just what makes the big man tick.
(NB: This interview was conducted just prior to the Magners League semi final against Leinster)
Your first season under your belt here in sunny Ulster (almost) – how do you think it’s gone?
I’ve really enjoyed it. From a personal point of view, coming over here, I didn’t know what to expect – what type of rugby to expect, what to expect weather-wise, settling the family in, but it’s been unbelievable – I’ve really enjoyed every aspect of it. Not only the rugby, but we also our personal lives have been great. We’ve really enjoyed it (me and my family), but rugby-wise, we’ve taken a couple of good steps forward, I think; what’s coming up in the next week or so will set out what our season has been all about – if we can bring some silverware back in the next three weeks it will have been a really successful season. If not, it’s been a season in the right direction and something to build on for the years coming up.
